We want everyone to be able to use Plucky Pet, including people who rely on assistive technology. Accessibility is built into how this site is made, not bolted on.

The standard we follow

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA — the standard most widely referenced for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in the United States and for accessibility law in Canada.

What we do

Semantic, structured HTML with proper headings and landmarks, and a “skip to content” link.
Full keyboard navigation, with a visible focus indicator.
Text and controls that meet WCAG AA colour-contrast thresholds.
Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images.
A hands-on accessibility review of every page before it ships, including computed colour-contrast checks. Automated testing (axe-core) is on our roadmap — we'd rather tell you exactly where we are than claim more.

Why there is no accessibility “overlay”

We deliberately do not use a third-party accessibility overlay or widget. Accessibility experts and disability advocates widely consider these tools ineffective — and they have themselves been the subject of complaints. Real accessibility belongs in the page, so that is where we put it.

We are a small team and we do not assume we have caught everything. If you run into a barrier, or need information in a different format, please email [email protected]. Tell us the page and what happened, and a person will help — and fix it.
